About Martin

I’m a 49-year-old desk jockey trying to get fit—not just skinny, not just strong, but actually fit for the first time in my adult life.

Over the years, I’ve tried it all:

  • Low carb, high carb, no carb
  • Heavy lifting, running, and just… quitting
  • Getting strong while eating like crap
  • Getting lean but losing all muscle

None of it stuck. Well, the getting heavier did.

The Recomp Chronicles is my attempt to do things differently. This is a place to track the work, log the setbacks, and laugh at the chaos. My goal is to hit 175 pounds, 14–15% body fat, and run a half marathon by age 50—while balancing work, family, a lot of dog hair, and aging joints.

You won’t find shredded shirtless selfies here. But you might find something that makes you go, “Damn… same.”

Still lifting.
Still losing.
Still showing up. Usually.
